It is selfless. If you love somebody, you will be willing to give your life for him/her.

It is easy to make this declaration in the beginning of the marriage, where one easily forgives because they are still in their bed of roses, honeymoon stage during the first year. But when the problems come that is perceived to be insurmountable, they become challenged, especially from the second year of marriage and on.

However, if the marriage is built on a solid foundation, not simply on physical attraction, but the compatibility of the partner in character, there is a great likelihood that it will succeed. They do not have to be alike, they may be poles apart; but if the partner recognizes this and that they could live with whatever flaws each has, both is committed to the marriage, pray together for any conflict- then God will bless this marriage.
